Our Beliefs

What We Believe

We are committed to a high view of Scripture as the inspired Word of God which alone stands as the final authority for our faith and our practice. Working from there, our hope is that our theology would always reflect a humble practice of life as we pursue God’s truth. We confess with the Church throughout history the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.

We are an affiliated church with the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC). The CCCC is passionate about healthy pastors, healthy churches, and healthy church multiplication, as it seeks to love God, love others and make disciples of Jesus Christ through the ministry of the local church. You can read more about the CCCC at: https://www.ccccusa.com/.

GRACE HARBOR CHURCH STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our hope is that our theology would always reflect a humble orthodoxy. We happily confess with the Church throughout history the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God to all people. It is accurate, authoritative and relevant to our everyday lives. The Bible is a library of writings, both divine and human, that tell a unified story, leading us to Jesus.

God

We believe in one God, who created the heavens and earth and everything in them. He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present and unchanging. He is good, compassionate, faithful and holy.  God is love. We believe that He exists in three distinct persons, equal in power, authority and glory, distinct in role: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus

We believe that Jesus, both completely human and completely God, is the only one who can justify and reconcile us to God. He lived the perfect life we should have lived, died the death we deserved on the cross in our place, and defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have the promise of the life we all long for with Him eternally.

Humankind

We believe that ALL people were uniquely created in the image of God to have relationship with him and to glorify him but became separated in that relationship through sin. As a result, people cannot regain a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

Forgiveness

We believe that the only way to receive forgiveness and salvation is through the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. God, in his grace, freely offers salvation to those who repent of their sin, place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin, and submit to His will for their life. Salvation cannot be earned—it is a gift of grace from God.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is present and active, abiding in every believer in Jesus, as a gift and guarantee of our future inheritance. The Holy Spirit guides us into truth, convicts us of sin, comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, testifies about Jesus, enables us to share the gospel and makes us more like Jesus. The Holy Spirit empowers us to spread God’s Kingdom.

The Church

We believe in the Church, the body of Christ, a community of believers unified through their faith in Jesus. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him, obeying him, loving each other and by this, making him known to the world, in their efforts to live out the Great Commandment and Great Commission.

World Without End

We believe that Jesus is coming back again, as He promised, to establish His Kingdom and restore creation with a new heavens and new earth. We believe that our response to Jesus will determine if we exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation.
